Noticing gaps in programming for our youngest residents, Howe wrote the curriculum for Miles of Smiles, a fitness club for preschoolers and toddlers. She leads it with the help of the Fort Morgan Recreation Department. She also helped bring CARA Track and Field to Fort Morgan, collaborating with local coaches and the Recreation Department. When asked about the importance of recreation, Howe affirmed,
"Recreational sports, parks, and facilities are the glue of our community. They help bring everyone together. It's my role as a municipal leader to help all families access affordable recreation."
